Free and Plus, side by side
Every row of the plan, side by side: storage, file sizes, addresses, mail, chat and comfort — and what is listed in the app but not built yet.
This is the complete list. Every figure below is the figure the server actually enforces; the app reads the same two tables, so what you see in Everything in Plus and what you read here are the same thing.
A word on how to read it: Free's numbers are the ones the product always had. Plus lifts them. Nothing in Free's column was ever lowered to make Plus look better, and nothing in it will be.
Your address
| Free | Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Your own domain | — | one domain, with 10 addresses on it and a catch-all |
| Extra addresses on our domains | — | 5, each able to send, each with its own signature |
Storage and files
| Free | Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Storage for mail, chat, files and Drive together | 5 GB | 50 GB |
| A file inside Private.Ki (mail or chat) | 25 MB | 1 GB |
| A file to an address outside Private.Ki | 25 MB | 25 MB |
| A file in Drive | 100 MB | 2 GB |
| Export your whole mailbox | — | one encrypted file |
Mail that leaves Private.Ki travels as ordinary mail, and 25 MB is what ordinary mail carries. No plan lifts it. See Attachments.
The storage figure counts what is stored, which is the encrypted size — a little larger than the file on your device. It covers every copy you hold: mail and chat, in every folder, drafts and notes included, Trash included, Drive's bin included. Nothing is ever deleted to make room, mail keeps arriving when you are full, and only new files and uploads wait.
| Free | Plus | |

| Send later | — | up to 30 days ahead, with an Outbox |
| Saved searches | — | 10 |
Chat
| Free | Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Take back a message you have sent | within 1 hour | any time |
| Self-destruct timers | up to 30 days | 3, 6 and 12 months as well |
| Group size | a small, fixed number of people | bigger groups |
| Invitation link: how long it lives | up to 30 days | up to 1 year |
| Invitation links live at once | 20 | 200 |
| People one invitation link may bring | 1 | up to 10, or anyone |
| Voice message length | up to 5 minutes | up to 20 minutes |
| Who can message me: your own list of senders | — | up to 200 entries |
| Pinned chats | — | 5 |

Not a plan matter
These are the same on both plans, and it is worth saying so plainly:
- The encryption, the keys and what our server can see. Identical. See What our server can see.
- Daily sending limits, proof-of-work challenges and strikes. Identical — Rate limits.
- Choosing which of our domains your address is on. Every account chooses at sign-up.
- Every protection against unwanted mail and strangers' chat requests. Plus adds one option — your own list of allowed senders — and refuses nothing by itself.
- Support. Write to us on either plan: Contact.
Ceilings no plan lifts
Above every Plus figure sits a hard ceiling that no plan reaches. A 26th recipient in one mail, an invitation link set to live longer than a year — those are refused flatly on both plans, with the plain message they always had, and nothing offers you an upgrade. If a control greys out instead of opening the Plus panel, that is what has happened.
Listed in the app, not built yet
The Everything in Plus list is the plan as it was decided, not only the part that runs today. A handful of its rows are decided and not built, so do not buy a Plus subscription for them:
- Calls through our relay, which would hide your IP address from the other side. Calls are direct today — When a call does not connect explains what that costs.
- Reminders on all your devices at any date and time.
- Larger and sharper video clips in chat.
- Extra sticker packs and more photo looks.
- Priority support and early access to new features.
Everything in the tables above is live and enforced now. When one of these is built, the table here gains a row and this list loses one.
Cannot see
- Which of the limits you are anywhere near. The storage figure is counted in the database from sizes it already has; the rest are checked as you go and nothing is kept
Can see
- Which plan your account is on, and the day a Plus period ends
- How many times each limit refused somebody, as one count per limit — never which account it was
If I buy Plus and let it run out, do I lose the mail I stored above 5 GB?
No. Nothing is deleted, ever. You keep every byte and keep receiving mail; you are refused new uploads and files until you are back under the Free figure or buy another period. There is no grace deadline after which something is removed.
Why does Plus not make the encryption stronger?
Because the encryption is not a feature to sell. There is one standard and both plans get it. A tiered-security product would mean deliberately giving somebody less protection than we know how to give, and we are not building that.
The app showed me a figure that is not in this table.
Tell us: Contact. The tables here are copied from the same source the app reads, so a difference is a mistake on one side or the other and we would like to know which.
Can I buy one single feature?
No. There is one plan at one price.
Is there a trial?
No. There is nothing to cancel either — a period is paid once and simply ends.
