Manage your subscription
Settings › Subscription holds your end date, extending, your balance, your receipts and the reminders we send — and what happens when a period runs out.
Everything about the subscription is in one place: Settings › Subscription, Your plan, payments and receipts. There is nothing to cancel there, because nothing recurring exists — a period is paid once and ends.
What the page shows
- Plan — Plus subscription with the day it ends, and nearer the end the days left, down to Ends today. On a Free account it reads Free.
- Extend, under the line Extending adds a full period — no day is lost.
- Balance, with how many periods it covers — 1 of 1 yearly periods (12 of 12 monthly).
- Extend by itself from the balance — the one automatic thing in Plus. See Vouchers and your balance.
- First steps, the three suggestions from the welcome screen, with Hide when you are done with them.
- Payments — every purchase and top-up, newest first. No payments yet. until there is one.
- A payment in progress, if you left one open: Continue › while the invoice is still live, Open › once it is confirming.
Extending
Press Extend and the checkout opens as it does for a first purchase, with one difference: a period is added to your current end date, not to today. Extending adds a full period to your current end, 10 Oct 2027. No day is lost. So extending early costs you nothing, and there is no advantage in waiting until the last day.
That holds through the grace days too. Only after grace has passed does a new period start from the day you pay.
Reading the payments list
Each row carries the period, the amount, how it was paid and its state:
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Paid | Settled. The period is on your account |
| Confirming | The payment was seen on the network and is waiting for confirmations |
| Open | The invoice is live and unpaid |
| Expired, Not paid in time | The invoice ran out. Nothing was taken |
| Invalid | The payment could not be matched. Nothing was charged |
| paid late | It confirmed after the invoice expired, and was honoured anyway |
| from balance | Paid wholly or partly out of your balance |
| Top-up · To your balance | A voucher that credited balance, not a period |
Receipts
Tap a paid row to open Receipt, then Download receipt — Preparing… while it is made. On the web the browser saves the file; on a phone the share sheet opens so you can send or keep it. It is a self-contained HTML file named like Receipt-PK-2026-1A2B3C4D.html, which opens in any browser and needs nothing from us to read later.
A receipt is deliberately thin. The note on the page says what is in it: A receipt holds the invoice id, period, amount, currency and date — nothing else. No name, no address, no tax identifier — none of that was ever asked for, so none of it can be printed. The same file arrives with the mail that confirms your payment, carried inside the message.
We cannot add them to a receipt, because nothing in the purchase collected them. Write to us first and we will tell you honestly whether what you need is possible: Contact.
What arrives, and when
Every event sends you one chat line and one mail, both from Private.Ki Plus, both encrypted to your own key like everything else in your mailbox. Nobody can reply to that conversation — the address has no account behind it. The messages are ordinary messages otherwise: archive, mute, search and delete them as you like, and a deleted one is never re-created.
You hear from it when a subscription starts, when it is extended, when a payment is seen, when a voucher or a balance credit lands, and then as a period runs down:
| When | What it says |
|---|---|
| 14 days before the end | Your Plus subscription ends in 14 days — and that nothing happens until then, and nothing is deleted after |
| 7 days before | the same, with the date |
| The day before | Your Plus subscription ends tomorrow |
| The day it ends | Your Plus subscription ended today — 7 days of grace |
| When grace runs out | Your Plus subscription has ended — Free limits from today, and nothing was deleted |
Each of these is sent once, counted against that period's end date, so a reminder cannot arrive twice.
When a period ends
The end date is not a cliff. Seven grace days follow it, and during them everything keeps working exactly as it did. Extend inside that window and the new period is added to the old end date, so the grace days are not wasted either.
When the grace days pass, Free limits return. What that means:
- Nothing is deleted. Nothing ever will be. Every mail, chat, file, key, receipt and dollar of balance stays.
- Storage above the Free figure becomes read-only. You keep receiving mail; new uploads above the line are refused until there is room or another period.
- Self-destruct timers go back to the Free choices. A timer already running keeps running.
- Groups keep every member. A group bigger than Free allows simply cannot add anybody new.
- Undo send, unsend and voice-message length return to the Free figures — they are in Free and Plus, side by side.
- Your own domain is paused, not removed. Mail to it is held back and then refused, and buying another period brings it straight back. It is never deleted without you asking. See Your own domain.
- Your addresses, your accent colour, your pinned chats and your saved searches stay as records. They are simply not applied until a period is active again.
Extending after grace works the same way as a first purchase, and the new period starts the day you pay.
Cannot see
- The text of those messages. They are encrypted to your key like every other message in your mailbox
- Any reason you did or did not extend. Nothing asks
Can see
- Your plan, the end date, your balance, your invoices and receipts, and whether extending from the balance is on
- That a reminder was sent, so it is not sent twice
How do I cancel?
There is nothing to cancel. Nothing can charge you — no card, no stored payment method, no agreement with a payment company. Stop extending and the period ends on its date.
I turned on extending from the balance. Can it surprise me?
Only to the extent of money you already hold here. It pays the next period on the last day, and only when your balance covers the price; if it does not, nothing happens. Turn it off in Settings › Subscription at any time.
I extended but the date did not move.
Check the payments list: if the row says Confirming, the payment has been seen but is not confirmed yet, and the date moves when it is. If it says Invalid, nothing was charged — write to us with the receipt number: Contact.
Can I get the days back that I did not use?
No. There are no refunds and no proration. A period is a period.
Can I move my subscription to another account?
No. The plan belongs to the account that bought it. A voucher is the way to pay for somebody else — Vouchers and your balance.
Can I delete the Private.Ki Plus conversation?
Yes, and the rest of the mailbox with it if you want. Deleting a plan message deletes nothing about the plan, and nothing re-creates it.
