Invitation links for more than one person
Set an invitation link to one person, up to ten, or any number. Each person who opens it gets their own key handshake and their own conversation.
An invitation link brings somebody into Private.Ki who is not here yet. By default a link works for one person and then stops. With Plus you can decide how many it works for.

Choose the uses
When you create an invitation link (see Invite someone who isn't here yet), the Uses control offers three choices:
- 1 person — Works for one person. The default.
- Up to 10 — Works for up to 10 people
- Unlimited — Works for any number of people
Beside a multi-use link the app explains what that means: "Every person who opens the link gets their own key handshake; the link itself is never a key. You see each use below and can stop the link at any time."
What a second person gets
Each person who opens the link arrives separately. They set up their own account and their own key, and the conversation that starts is theirs alone — a chat between you and them. Ten people taking one link gives you ten separate conversations, not a group. Nobody who takes the link can read anybody else's.
Watch and stop a link
Your live links are listed under Live links, with a count:
Live links · 6 of 200
Each row says what the link is set to, how often it has been taken, who took it, and when it expires:
Up to 10 · used 3 times · Ada, Mira, Lenz · expires 16 Oct 2026
A link that nobody has used yet says not used yet; one used a single time says used once. Press Stop to end a link immediately. The conversations it already started are unaffected — stopping a link only stops new people arriving.
Anyone who has the link can take it, up to its limit, until it expires or you stop it. A link set to Unlimited and posted somewhere public can be taken by anybody who sees it. For a link you intend for one named person, leave it at 1 person — it stops working the moment they are in.
The number of uses changes nothing about the encryption. Every arrival runs its own key exchange, so there is never a shared key and no conversation can be read by another person who used the same link.
On a Free account
The Uses control is there with all three choices showing — none is greyed, marked or hidden. 1 person works as it always has; choosing one of the other two opens the Plus window.
Cannot see
- Anything in the conversations it started
Can see
- That a link exists, how many times it has been taken, and when it expires
- Which accounts came in through it
Is a multi-use link a group chat?
No. Each person who takes it starts a separate one-to-one conversation with you.
Can two people who used the same link read each other's messages?
No. Each arrival gets its own key handshake; there is no key shared between them.
Can I change the uses after making the link?
No. Pick the uses when you create it. To change it, stop that link and make a new one.
Does stopping a link remove the chats it started?
No. Those conversations stay. Stopping only prevents new arrivals.
How many links can I have live at once?
Twenty on Free, two hundred with Plus.
Does an unlimited link ever run out?
It stops when it expires or when you press Stop — there is no use count to exhaust.
