Accent colours
Eight accent colours for the app, chosen in Settings → Appearance and kept on your account, so every device you sign in on looks the same.
The accent is the colour of buttons, links, the active folder and everything else the app highlights. It comes in eight shades.

Violet is the default and is free for everyone. An account that never chose anything looks exactly as it always did.
Choose one
- Open Settings → Appearance.
- Under Accent colour, press the swatch you want.
- The app recolours as you press — there is nothing to save and nothing to restart.
The eight are Violet, Blue, Teal, Green, Amber, Coral, Rose and Graphite.
Under the swatches the screen states the two things worth knowing: "On every device you are signed in on. Light and dark each keep a readable shade of it." The accent is stored on your account, so your phone and your browser agree, and each colour has a lighter and a darker form so text on it stays legible in both themes.
Theme lives here too
Appearance is also where the theme is set — System, Light or Dark. This is the only place System can be chosen, and the control moved here from General; the summary under the section reads "Theme and accent colour". The theme is a device setting and the accent is an account setting, which is why they can disagree between your devices.
See Theme and appearance for how the theme itself behaves.
Same screen, same swatches. The accent you pick on a phone is on your other devices the next time they load your account.
On a Free account
Every swatch is shown at full colour — none is greyed, marked or hidden. Violet applies straight away; pressing one of the other seven opens the Plus window. Your theme choice is unaffected either way.
Does the accent change on all my devices?
Yes. It is stored on the account, not on the device.
Can I use a colour of my own?
No. The eight shades are fixed, so that text on them stays readable in both light and dark.
Does the accent affect anything but looks?
No. It is colour only — no feature, notification or encryption behaviour depends on it.
I had the app before accents existed. Did mine change?
No. Violet is identical to the colour the app always used, so an account that never chose looks unchanged.
What happens to my accent if Plus lapses?
Nothing is lost on your account. Pick violet again at any time; changing to another of the seven asks for Plus.
