If a Private.Ki account is being used for spam, phishing, malware, impersonation, harassment or threats, tell us. We cannot see message content, so reports from recipients are how abuse gets found. Every report is read by a person.

How to report

  • Abuse report form — the Report abuse button at the bottom of every Help Center page. Reports through the form are processed first and checked most often. Use it whenever you can, and always for anything urgent.
  • Email[email protected]. Slower; use it if the form is not an option.

You do not need a Private.Ki account to report. If you are reporting mail you received at another provider, the form works the same way.

Do not reply to the sender

Replying, or clicking anything in a suspicious message, tells the sender the address is live. Report it and delete it. If a link asks for your Private.Ki password, passphrase or a code, it is not from us — see External links.

What you can report

  • Spam or bulk unsolicited email or chat invitations
  • Phishing — attempts to get passwords, codes, passphrases or personal data
  • Malware, malicious links or attachments
  • Impersonation, fraud or scams
  • Harassment, threats or other abusive behaviour
  • Any other misuse of a Private.Ki account or of our service

For mail arriving in your inbox from other providers, the anti-spam policy describes how we filter it and how to avoid spam in the first place — see Avoid spam.

What to include

Because we cannot read the message, everything we know about it comes from you.

  1. The Private.Ki address involved — the sender's …@private.ki address, or the address a chat invite came from.
  2. Whether you are the person affected or reporting on someone's behalf.
  3. Date and time, with your time zone.
  4. The message itself. For email, the original is best: open the message and use Show original to copy or download the raw MIME, which includes the headers we need to trace it. A screenshot is the next best thing. For chat, a screenshot of the conversation with the sender visible.

  5. Anything technical you have — links, file names, headers.
  6. How to reach you for follow-up, if you want one.

Do not include your own password, passphrase or codes. We will never ask for them.

What happens next

  1. Your report enters the abuse queue. Form submissions are looked at first.
  2. Our security team reviews the evidence. Because content is encrypted end to end, we work from what you sent and from account-level signals — sending patterns, sign-up details, rate-limit hits.
  3. If the report is confirmed, the account is disabled: it is signed out of every device and cannot sign in again. In some cases the username is blocked from being registered again.
  4. If we need more information, we contact you at the address you gave. We do not routinely send a verdict for every report.

We do not disclose who reported an account.

What our server sees

Cannot see

  • The content of the message you are reporting — until you send it to us in the report

Can see

  • The report itself, including anything you paste or attach
  • Account-level facts about the reported account: when it was created, how much it sends, whether it is hitting rate limits

Common questions

The abusive message came from someone I invited to chat

Delete the chat — see Delete a chat — and report the address. A stranger who joined through your invite link has their own account; disabling it does not affect yours.

Can I block a sender?

There is no per-sender block list in the app today. Report the account; a confirmed report disables it for everyone.

Someone is impersonating me

Report it with your own username and the impersonating address. If the impersonator is on another provider, also report to that provider — we can only act on Private.Ki accounts.

I reported by mistake

Write to the same channel and say so. A report is reviewed by a person before anything happens to the account.
